But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40.31

Slouching Towards Dictatorship
So now we find that President Bush claims that he has the power to open any citizen's mail at any time for any reason he sees fit. Ironically, enough we find this out when he signed a bill on postal regulations. He attached a signing statement which in essence says (I'm not kidding here), "I can order any mail opened without a warrant if I so choose because I am the President." Another example of how the President is taking us from Lex Rex (The law is king) to Rex Lex (The king is law.) Scary.

Bush and his administration have been teetering on a the edge of a VERY slippery slope since 9/11, which, if not reversed quickly will, I think, prove very dangerous and detrimental to our civil liberties. Any suggestions for ensuring it doesn't go any further?
I am out of suggestions. It would mean that Congress gets a backbone and forces him to obey the laws under threat of impeachment. Not going to happen. The problem is that you know that next president isn't going to move backwards in terms of prerogatives and signing statements. It's the slow march towards dictatorship.
The slow march? Seems to me we just stepped up to a double time.
