There can be any number of excuses for running a guided missile cruiser aground. Unfortunately, the Navy won't like any of them. I suspect the CO of this ship will be looking for a new job, if he ever gets his ship off the shoal. Needless to say, it doesn't help that it's sitting in full view of half of Oahu.
The shoal was known to the Navy. “Clearly, the ship is not where the ship should have been. The investigation will determine exactly why the ship got to the point where she was in shoal water,” Walsh said

See dad? You should be glad all I ruined was our lawn mower, the plymouth, and a chevy cavalier. THIS guy ruined a Navy boat.
Hmm...when I think about it, maybe they could get YOU to be the next skipper of that ship.
