Drunken Aeroflot Pilot Update

Update on the drunken Aeroflot pilot. Pretty much speaks for itself. Russia is a weird place.

"It's not such a big deal if the pilot is drunk," one representative said, according to the English-language Moscow Times, which had a reporter on board.

I guess this would be the "laissez-faire" approach to being drunk on duty.

Attempting to intercede in the dispute, he [the captain] made passengers an offer, saying: "I'll sit here quietly in a corner. We have three more pilots. I won't even touch the controls, I promise."

Busted? What to do? Bargain with the passengers.

"The pilot was tested for alcohol but none was found," said Irina Dannenberg. "He was so upset that he developed high blood pressure and has been in hospital ever since."

Not sure what kind of "test" they performed, but I'm thinking it probably wasn't too in depth.

Serious Miscalculation!

This has got to be one of the grosser miscalculations in Georgian foreign policy. The Georgian president started a fight which it appears that the Russians are finishing. Very bad calculation.
