Bart Campolo is Tony Campolo's son. He does a good job in The Limits of God's Grace, remaking God into an image that is acceptable to him. He is quite honest in what he is doing and why. A God who is anything except completely loving (and completely non-judgmental) is unacceptable because Bart cannot understand this type of God. So He remakes God into an image which he can understand. Perhaps the most telling point should be left to Bart himself. " I absolutely know what I hope to be true: that God is completely good, entirely loving, and perfectly forgiving...This is my first article of faith. I required no Bible to determine it, and—honestly—I will either interpret away or ignore altogether any Bible verse
that suggests otherwise." This would include any verse that might imply that because God is just He will not allow sin to go unpunished.
One classic mistake (among many) that Bart makes in his theology is that he claims we are free agents, while then turning around and complaining that God doesn't protect all of us from the consequences of our free agency. So we should/ we must!! be absolutely free, but God must!! protect us from our own choices, and from other's choices that might affect our lives.
