Wow! A fascinating article. This guy is very courageous because his choice will obviously not sit well with his family. He literally is putting his life in jeopardy speaking out on this.

Mr Yousef said that his doubts about Islam and Hamas crystallised when he realised not all Hamas leaders were like his father, a moderate who he describes as "open-minded, very humble and honest".
Mr Yousef said that he was appalled by the brutality of the movement, including the suicide bombers seeking glory through jihad.
"Hamas, they are using civilians' lives, they are using children, they are using the suffering of people every day to achieve their goals. And this is what I hate," he said.

J. I. Packer has been a hero of mine ever since Glen Peterson and I went through "Knowing God" together when I was a senior in high school. Here he describes the "Happy Surprises" that God brought, unexpectedly into his life. I quote his happiest surprise:

I know that this is a non-issue for some people - they believe the Bible and aren't worried about "proving" why it is true (it baffles me, but there are a lot of people like this). From Whence Cometh the Laws of Science?

Certainly the New York Times has no clue. Nor do most scientists, the majority of whom appear not to care (I have a sneaking suspicion that it's because they are afraid of the implications). What I find funny is the attempts to come up with a theory of how the laws of nature evolved. Worth the read just for that. The words that come to mind when pondering these theories are: idiotic, willfully ignorant, and hopeless. My favorite theory is the so-called multi-verse theory which basically says there's an infinite number of universes and our is just one, but we can know anything about the other zillion multi-verses. Wow, now there's a theory that would be tough to disprove, eh? Which brings to mind Paul's words: “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

She is in a medically-induced coma (as of today) and nearing death, although the family believes that God is going to heal her. It makes for interesting, but sad reading.
