Bush Doubles Down
I can't say I'm surprised that President Bush is "doubling down" on Iraq, any other approach would have forced him to admit to the family members of the 3000 men who have died that the whole idea was useless. He never struck me as someone who was going to do that. So he will add more troops while clearing the deck of generals who oppose his plans. Living history is a fascinating thing. If Bush's plans work and Iraq is pacified he will be seen by the distance of history as stubborn enough to carry off the impossible and will be considered a great president. If his plans do not work, and I have a hard time seeing how they will, his actions will be a strategic blunder of historical proportions and he will be considered one of the worst presidents in history. Its pretty much as simple as that. Winners write history.
