Fools Rush In
Bush to request hefty Iraq war funds is the headline from a Reuters dispatch this morning, informing us that President Bush will ask for 100 billion dollars just to get us through to the end of the fiscal year. This request from the guys who laughed when someone suggested that the war might cost 250 billion! So much for considering the cost before rushing in. I think, when all is said and done, this will be one of the more damaging effects of the war, the sheer amount of dollars we are blowing on it. Of course so far the 400 billion? (363 billion and counting to be exact) we have spent has all been "off budget," meaning that we will have to pay for it, but we won't bother showing it as added to the already impressive deficit. What a shell game!
