But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40.31

Why Iraq is a Tar Baby
I know it isn't politically correct to refer to tar babies anymore, but I can think of nothing which gets to the truth of the matter better than brer fox and brer rabbit. We don't have the will to do what it takes to win in Iraq, but we can't withdraw, the strategic consequences, not to mention the blow to our national psyche would be catastrophic. We just keep slugging away and get ever "stucker." Patrick Buchanan pretty much nails our dilemma on the head in Looking For the Exit Ramp. His last two sentences sum up the problem quite well. "But those consequences are going to be ugly and enduring. That is what happens to nations that commit historic blunders."
